My visit to the Volcano House and Active steaming Giant Volcano Craters in Hilo Island of Hawaii

Me behind the Volcano house from where you view the active areas with stem coming out of the ground.

The Volcano house entrance.

Rear of the Volcano House from where we looked at the active Volcano area.

Inside the Volcano House Diagrams and location of Volcanic activities

Posted Trail distance to Volcano, Crater map & active areas

An original print of Hawaiian ancestry overlooking the Volcano Crater area.

The white you see is steam coming out of the ground from beneath the escaping heat steam

The photos do  not do the scene justice of the site, much better and impressive to be there with
your own eyes, it is amazing!

Me @ the Volcano House viewing area and a beautiful view through the trees looking at the crater.

Me! on left rear of the Volcano house and right at entrance.

Below a visit to the Museum National Park where below is an active Volcano area with a giant Crater where hot steam is continually coming out of the ground cause by volcanic activity from beneath the Earth.

The Halema' Uma'u Crater
Sign says not to get closer that the area is closed.

Behind me another active crater

Same crater with out me!!

Here you can see the steam just coming out of the ground all over the area and what is amazing is the vegetation that survives on the volcanic ground.

A view closer of the Volcano with steam and sulfur coming from the bottom and sides.

The Halema' Uma'u Crater's notes and events.

The ground you see was formed from Lava layers throughout the year's eruptions.

Here see the pressure building and creating more land mass and mountains thus creating bigger Islands.

Different layers of lava create different color layers of land and you can see the white
steam coming up from the ground.

Closer look at the bottom of the crater and see again the steam it is unbelievable.

This is where everyone takes the view and photos, tourist from all over come to see this nature.

This is Pele the God of the Volcano.

This fire is from the hot Lava emerging from the ground.

The ground is made up of layers of Volcano Lava events.

This is a posting to the Halemaumau trail.

Standing by a Lava flow trail created by a Lava eruption.

Different color ground material created due to different lava episodes that cracked as it cooled.

Lava land crack due to shifting after cooling and new underground activity

This is the surface of the ground from the molted lava that was left on the surface and harden.

Different color of different lava layers.

Trail to get up close to the Crater.

Very hot burning steam comes out of the ground through these holes all over the ground.

Dry Lava on ground

Center these 3 Hanas "Family" members performed a ritual and them placed and throw flowers for the Gods.
See the steam from the ground right next to them!

Gifts they left for the Gods, they do this every week.

Bottom of the Crater.

Another view.

more views with sulfur coming out of the sides of the Volcano Crater.

Notice the constant steam it is the pressure under the earth's activity.

Some areas are fenced off it is too dangerous to get too close people have fallen into the crater!

This is the top edge of the crater.

Here I jumped over a rope and got as close as I could to the edge, see the steam.

This is the inside sides of the crater where there is always movement activity along with sulfur.

See the fenced area on the left and the crumbled edge due to live activity.

Here I was 4 feet fro the edge of the Crater.

These are the steam kettles all over the grounds.

Crater's edge, I keep repeating it but it is amazing the stem comes out of these cracks on the ground

Inside of the crater is like a Giant foot ball stadium.

This is another small crater along the way.

Below is another stop we made to a Lava tube it is a hollow cave like tunnel left from the underground lava flow.

We visited the Thurston Lava Tube, it is what is left after a Lava flow and forms a tunnel hole from the flow underground.

On our way down into it.

On the way down there is lots of vegetation like a rain forest.

On the way down.

More views of the vegetation going down.

Me!

Ready to go inside the Lava tube.

lava tube entrance.

Inside the Lava Tube.

A friend Monica also visiting the site she was just told there was a snake behind her, she went to turn around trying to keep
the smile for the shot. Yes she panic but was ok!

A view of yet another crater on our way back to the ship.
